My boss asked for some sort of sign for the men’s washroom to remind urinal-users about the importance of flushing. I think I got a little carried away, but she didn’t seem to mind.
The best part of working in an office is when they ask you to draw things. The boss even laminated the comic to protect it from the pesky splash-back of urinal flushing. C’mon fellas, you know what I’m talking about.
I forgot to post this comic from Prairie Dog magazine’s Valentine’s day issue. No time like the present!
Look at poor little Dennis trying to buy the right Valentines!
I was kept busy last weekend with a cover for Planet S magazine, and a comic for Prairie Dog.
The magazines were celebrating the best food and drink in Regina and Saskatoon.
When I first attempted doing a daily sketchbook comic in 2007, I kept it up for 98 days before quitting.
Yesterday, I drew my 100th comic since I started anew in early January 2010.
Of course, this all still pales in comparison to great cartoonists, such as James Kochalka (whose love of video games I share, and I totally hope we can be pals someday.)
Nonetheless, it is a small victory for me, and I will be discussing it on CBC Saskatchewan’s Afternoon Edition at 4:15pm CST, Wednesday, April 21 — 540 am, or 102.5 fm. You can also listen to a live stream at the link above.
I hope you’ll join in and have a listen using the miracle of radio waves (or, failing that, the wonders of the Internetwork). This business of doing a comic strip every day has been most humbling and enlightening. Plus it’s been fun, making the the appeal of a lifetime of cartooning all the more inviting.
Two kitty comics in one week?! You lucky people!
Other life-altering things that happened this week: got new glasses. Shaved my moustache. Faced death, in pigeon form.
This week’s comics feature all of your favourites: poop, ghosts, swearing, babies, and swearing about babies.
Enjoy!
Due to many late nights, there’s some pretty nonsensical comics this week. Except for the Growlywog one. You can’t front on Growlywogs.
My apologies to both of my readers for the lateness of this post. I had a busy weekend working on a illustration and comic for the next issue of Prairie Dog and Planet S.
Anyway, here they are…
Well, a week has passed, and I’ve really been enjoying my time drawing before bed. In the last year, it seems like I’ve always been too busy to draw for pleasure, but this daily strip gives me a brief moment to relax each night.
That said, so far I’m really disappointed with most of the strips. This means one of two things: 1) It’s going to take time to get back into a good groove of cartooning spontaneity. 2) My best work is behind me and I’m doomed to a life of extreme mediocrity.
Either way, here are the strips from last week…
Below are the first two weeks of my daily diary comics. Now that I’m all caught up, I hope to post these every Sunday from now on.
I think the duck one might be my favourite this week.
